When I asked my Facebook friends what they would like me to write about, I received some really great responses. However, one really resonated with me. “How do you balance a “healthy fear” resulting in empowering vs living in fear?” Thanks to Tamara for asking such an important question! It is a question, I feel all of us have considered.
The key is to prepare for any and all circumstances by taking time to come up with a plan. I am going to spend the next few weeks developing lessons on how to prepare and feel empowered without living in constant fear.
The first lesson will be on how to secure your home and develop a plan with your family. We have all talked to our children about what to do in the event of a fire or a tornado, but few of us have taken the time to talk to our children about what to do if someone tries to enter our home or has entered our home as an unwelcome guest. I feel very strongly that an unhealthy fear develops when we do not plan. I don’t know about you, but I do not lie awake at night worried about a fire in the house, because we have a plan. Our children know what to do when the smoke alarm wakes them. We need to take the same care in preparing them for a potential home invasion.
